In 2017, Contemporary Art Museum, Kumamoto (CAMK) marks 15 years since opening. CAMK collection holds many artworks (fit to call a sort of Kumamoto-local-treasures) which commissioned by CAMK or showed as brand new works for our past exhibition that artists participated. Japanese-style-paintings, oil paintings, photographs, video arts, sculptures and diverse style of art and interesting expression you may see. And from the exhibition you will find what the real Kumamoto-local-treasure is. New collection, “Bride Ikiningyo”¯ (by unknown artist) and “3 years old girl Toshiko”¯ (by Kamehachi Yasumoto Ⅲ) have unveiled.

Toyonori Inahara was born at Matsubase, Uki city in 1952. He started to take photos from 28 years old, being active in fields of magazines and newspaper. He began the magazine “NO!”¯ in 1996. Many solo shows as “Circle - Ezuko”¯ in 2011 (Contemporary Art Museum, Kumamoto G3) and more. Photobook “Kyushu Bishojo Shashin Kan”¯ (2009, Kaichosha). He lives in Kumamoto. |
Eiichi Tanaka was born at Kumamoto city in 1954. He graduated Tokyo Zokei University Department Design, Film Major. He traveled and took photos of landscape and people around the world, Kilauea, Fraser Island. Many solo shows, group shows as “Ars Kumamoto”¯ in 2006 (Contemporary Art Museum, Kumamoto) and more. He lives in Kumamoto and Ishigaki Island. |

Motohiko Odani was born at Kyoto in 1972. First solo show “Phantom Limb”¯ (P-House, Tokyo) in 1997. He participated in many international art exhibitions as 5th Lyon Biennale (2000), 7th Istanbul Biennial (2001), 50th Venice Biennale (2003, Japanese Pavilion). His representative solo shows as “Odani Motohiko: Phantom Limb”¯ (touring exhibition: Mori Art Museum / Contemporary Art Museum, Kumamoto and more) in 2010-2011, “Terminal Moment”¯ (Kyoto Art Center, Kyoto) in 2014 and “MOTOHIKO ODANI: DEPTH OF THE BODY”¯ (Albertz Benda, New York) in 2016. Participated group exhibitions as “Ground Zero Japan”¯ (Contemporary Art Center, Art Tower Mito) in 1999, “Ecce Homo: The Human Images in Contemporary Art”¯ (The National Museum of Art, Osaka) in 2016 and more. He got 25th Hiragushi Denchu Award in 2011, and got The Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s Art Encouragement Prize for New Artist of Fine Art in 2012. Since 2006, associate professor at Tokyo National University of Art and Music. |
