Today`s concert was a rare contra bass solo performance. As if the music could be felt with the whole body, deep rythmical tones filled the room. With the mastering of the transcendent skills of G. Bottesini`s Fantasy Opera, \"La Sonnambula,\" the latent power of the song was a fine spectacle indeed.
After the Flight of the Moewe event which was held in Aso, the Hachiya Cup \"LIGHT/DEPTH\" Skateboarding Grand Prix was held back at the museum. The two judges for this contest were Mr. Hachiya and the producer of \"LIGHT/DEPTH\", Mr. Matsuo. Raucous applause was given to the Kumamoto skateboarding volunteers who showed off their high level skills and beautiful form. The winners are as follows: Grand Prize: Kenji Okuwaki, 2nd Place: Masaru Yoshitsugu, 3rd Place(The Hachiya \"Old School Style\" Award): Yoshifumi Kisamuki, 4th Place: Yasuyuki Maki, 5th Place(The Matsuo \"Nice Try\" Award): Seitarou Nagato.
Due to typhoon #5, the Flight of the Moewe was postponed one day to Sunday, July 1st--for a beautiful day out in Aso. The crowd, an amazing 300 people from around the country, cheered as the 4.4 meter long white Moewe took off into the air.
In Artist Talk #2, Mr. Hachiya and the pilot of the Moewe, Mr. Otsuka, focused on the behind-the-scenes development of the Moewe, discussed the history of airplane manufacturing in Japan, as well as what their future plans are. They also entertained questions from the audience which made for a most enjoyable evening.
