映画監督の遠山昇司（TOYAMA Shoji）氏が、海外の方向けに、熊本を代表する２つの美術館をご案内する特別なツアーです。

純和風建築で日本でも珍しい畳敷きの美術館と阿蘇の巨大噴火からできたとされる鍋ケ滝（Nabegataki (falls)）、豊富な地熱を源とする温泉地を巡り、現代アートを通じて地域の歴史や文化、風土の魅力を学芸員とあわせて解説します。

昼食は地熱を使った蒸し料理をお楽しみください。

This is a related event to the “Toyama Shoji Exhibition Birds in the Storage,” which  held at the Contemporary Art Museum Kumamoto from October 5 to December 14, 2025. Film director Toyama Shoji will be hosting a special tour for foreign visitors to two of Kumamoto’s most famous art museums.
The tour will visit the museum, which is a purely Japanese-style building with tatami flooring, which is rare even in Japan, Nabegataki Falls, which is said to have been formed by a huge eruption of Mt. Aso, and a hot spring resort with abundant geothermal energy. The curator will also explain the history, culture, and natural features of the region through contemporary art.
